About the author
Kent Blansett is an Associate Professor of History and Native American Studies at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. He is a Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Shawnee and Potawatomi descendant and author of the first biography of Richard Oakes entitled, A Journey to Freedom: Richard Oakes, Alcatraz, and the Red Power Movement (New Haven: Yale University Press, 2018).
